Registration Fee
The Registration fees comprise a component levied by ACTLAA (to cover things such as insurance and carnival entries) and an element set by GUNLAC to cover the costs of running the Centre. For the 2010/11 season, the fees are still:

  • 1st Child $90
  • 2nd Child $85
  • 3rd Child $80
  • 4th and subsequent child $60

Fees may be paid by credit card (Mastercard or Visa only), cash or cheque (payable to "Gungahlin Little Athletics Centre").
If registration is cancelled by the 4th Saturday meet, the GUNLAC component of registration fees will be refunded less an administration fee of $5 per child.
Half season registration is available, at half the above full season rates, for athletes who register in January for the second half of the season only.

Trialling
Athletes may trial (ie participate without registering) for three meets. There after, registration fees must be paid. For insurance purposes, parents/guardians must complete and submit a GUNLAC Registration Form (under the Documents tab) marked at the top as "Trial".

Events
The U6 age group participate in our On-Track program learning basic athletics skills in a fun environment. They also complete 2 events. There are 4 events for the U7 age group and 5 events for the U8 and above age groups each week. Children participate in a variety of running, throwing, and jumping events. The events conducted by various age groups are detailed under the Documents tab.

Training
Gungahlin Little Athletics Centre has qualified level 1 and level 2 Coaches, accredited with the Australian Track and Field Coaches Association. Our Coaches will endeavour to help our athletes to achieve greater fitness and athletic skills. Training is held at Amaroo oval on Thursdays from 5.30pm-6.30pm. These sessions are free to all registered athletes in the U7 and above age groups.

Uniform
The uniform is not compulsory at Centre Meetings, however an athlete's registration number and age patch must be attached to the front of whatever shirt/top they are wearing. If the athlete wishes to attend ACTLAA Carnivals representing GUNLAC, the correct uniform must be worn. Club shirts/singlets/crop tops can be purchased on Registration Days or from the canteen on Saturday mornings.

Shoes
Shoes are compulsory at Centre meetings as well as at ACTLAA Carnivals.

Spikes
Spikes may be worn by children in the U9-U17 age groups. They may only be worn in laned events (up to and including the 400m) and at the long, triple and high jumps. The maximum length of spikes permitted is 9mm on grass tracks. On synthetic tracks such as the AIS, see the Recommended Spikes diagram under the Documents tab. Children wishing to wear spikes at club meetings must enter their name in the ‘Spikes Register' (located near the notice board) every Saturday morning. Spikes must not be worn outside of the competition area for the event, ie put on at the start point and removed at the finish point.

Parent Roster (See Documents tab)
A significant number of Officials (Parent Volunteers) are required every Saturday to ensure the smooth running of all events. With over 300 registered children, this is a huge undertaking. With regular parent participation however, we can ensure the meeting runs efficiently with little delay. Therefore a roster system in which parents are expected to help out every 3 weeks is prepared. Remember, children do appreciate the presence of their own parents as officials.

Insurance
All registered athletes and those parents helping are covered by insurance while for injuries sustained participating in Little Athletics activities. We need a record of the names of those helping with events to ensure that they are covered by insurance. Please enter your name on the sheets provided in the age group folders and at the various event recording areas. All injuries to athletes and officials must be recorded in the Injury Register as the registration number may be required to complete any claim.

Weather
Cancellations due to weather will be announced on the home page of the GUNLAC website not later than 8am - watch for these icons.

We will also endevour to place announcements over the local radio stations – AM (1206) 2CC, AM (1053) 2CA, FM104.7 and FM106.3 on Saturday mornings where possible. Radio stations will be notified by approximately 8am.

Canteen
The canteen sells tea and coffee, cold drinks, hot food, sweets and ice blocks at very reasonable prices. The canteen will be open during all competition club meetings.
